Large sporting events – such as March Madness – draw massive crowds with consumers looking to score a ticket to their favorite game. Considering the high desirability of these tickets, fans will often have to resort to the secondary resale market. Scammers are going to take advantage of fans looking for the best deal – capitalizing on tickets that may not even exist. Before you print out those brackets and map out your schedule – know what to look for when purchasing those highly desirable tickets.

How to buy tickets safety:

NCAA tickets can be bought first hand, for instance on NCAA’s official ticketing website. If you prefer to look for discounted prices, still use this site as reference to prices and seating charts.

Second hand tickets are ones that have been purchased through, then listed with adjusted prices. This process is legal, as long as the offering stays true and valid. Use secure sites such as, SeatGeek and Vivid Seats for such second-hand purchases. Each site holds a safety promise to their consumers and sellers to guarantee a secure transaction.

If you are looking at other competing second-hand sites, be aware of the buyer’s guarantee. It is not uncommon for such sites, and sellers on Craig’s List, to not provide a guarantee or refund during unfortunate circumstances. Always read the fine print. Verify a secure site by the padlock in the address bar.
